Shefali Jariwala’s death at 42: Kaanta Laga girl and Bigg Boss star commemorated


Bollywood and pop culture are mourning the unexpected death of Shefali Jariwala, known as the “Kaanta Laga girl,” who died at the age of just 42 years. The actress and reality-show participant reported died from cardiac arrest on the night of June 27, 2025, in her home in Andheri, Mumbai.

From “Kaanta Laga” to Bigg Boss

Shefali had gained notoriety in the early 2000s from the smash hit remix music video “Kaanta Laga,” which undeniably gave her a permanent spot in Indian pop culture. She became a phenomenon almost overnight with the memorable and easy-to-follow dance moves and her charming charisma. She was so proud of the title that she once stated, “There can only be one Kaanta Laga girl in the whole world … I want to be remembered as the Kaanta Laga girl till the day I die.”

Shefali also appeared in the classic movie Mujhse Shaadi Karogi and participated in multiple dance reality competition shows like Nach Baliye 5 and 7, along with her husband Parag Tyagi. In 2019, she appeared on Bigg Boss 13, where she received wider recognition for her confident demeanor and the bond she made with Sidharth Shukla. She also starred in the 2018 Families on web series Baby Come Naa.

Death Reason

On the night of June 27, Shefali is said to have experienced terrible chest pain before collapsing from cardiac arrest. She was taken by her husband, Parag Tyagi, and others to Bellevue Multispeciality Hospital in Andheri, where doctors indicated Shefali was dead on arrival. Shefali’s body was sent for post-mortem at Cooper Hospital. At about 1 a.m. Mumbai Police were informed, and reports are still forthcoming.And also, Shefali had suffered from epilepsy since the age of 15. She had previously spoken about her battle and the effect it had on her confidence and career. She had been seizure-free for the last few years and lived a healthier life.
