‘Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone’ crosses $1 billion mark at the global box office after opening in China.

The announcement was made by Warner Bros. President of International Distribution, Andrew Cripps.

Nearly two decades after the first graced of ‘Harry Potter And The Sorcerer’s Stone’ on the big screen in 2001, the movie is being re-released overseas as theaters reopen in China.

The 4K 3D restoration of Sorcerer’s Stone opened in China on August 14, 2020, and it is topped the weekend chart with more than $13.5 million and still climbing.

It is the second film in the Harry Potter series to join the billion-dollar club following ‘Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2,’ that released in 2011 and earned $1.34 billion globally.
