Los Angeles, (IANS): ‘Game of Thrones’ star Sophie Turner has spoken about her fears for young actors, and feels that the toxicity of social media might affect them negatively.

The 29-year-old actress was just 13 when she was cast in the HBO fantasy series ‘Game of Thrones’, and admits that she is concerned about performers who are thrust into the spotlight at an early age because of the cruel nature of the online sites, reports ‘Female First UK’.

Sophie told ‘Flaunt’ magazine, "I look at the kids who are about to be in the new Harry Potter and I just want to give them a hug and say, 'Look, it's going to be okay but don't go anywhere near (social media). Stay friends with your home friends, keep living at home with your family, make sure your parents are your chaperones, it's so important to have that grounding adjacent to the big, crazy stuff that you do”.

She recalled how her confidence dropped as social media became increasingly prominent after ‘Game of Thrones’ started airing in 2011.

She said, "I think social media was just really becoming a big thing after I started on Game of Thrones, so I got a couple of years of peace and quiet and then I had to adjust. It had such a profound impact on my mental health, like more than I could tell you. It almost destroyed me on numerous occasions”.

As per ‘Female First UK’, Sophie even stated that she will refuse to allow her own children, daughters Willa, and Delphine, from her marriage to former husband Joe Jonas, to act until they have grown up.

She said, "Oh God, they're not acting! Not until they're at least 25”. Sophie Turner appears alongside ‘Game of Thrones’ co-star Kit Harington in her upcoming movie ‘The Dreadful’, and is determined to work on projects that generate discussion.

She said, "I do like to make things that people can walk away from and they feel able to change something about themselves or feel inspired to do something. I want to do more unusual stories, I want to do more A24-type projects where they're super unique and very niche”.Sophie and Kit play lovers in the film, and the former admits that it was a strange dynamic alongside a person she describes as "like a brother in real life". Selena Gomez reveals how ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ changed her life

Los Angeles, (IANS) Actress-singer Selena Gomez has shared how the TV sitcom Wizards of Waverly Place changed her life.

The 33-year-old actress auditioned for a series of TV shows, including the spin-off of Lizzie McGuire, before she joined the cast of Wizards of Waverly Place.

Selena said on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast: "It was actually a weird thing because I was on three pilots for the Disney channel. One was the spin-off of Lizzie McGuire. One was the spin-off of the Suite Life of Zach and Cody and the last one was Wizards.

"So by then all of them didn’t get picked up and I was just kind of at my wits end, but not in a bad way just kind of thought ‘okay, well this is not going to work out’ and Wizards got picked up and my whole life changed after that."

She still feels proud to be part of the "Disney high school experience", reports femalefirst.co.uk.

Gomez, who has also enjoyed huge success with her music, said: "It was an immediate feeling of oh I achieved my dream at that point in time. I was such a huge fan of the channel. I was a huge fan of what they did for our generation, and it was an honour. I wear it proudly.”

“I definitely am not ashamed of being part of the Disney high school experience … It was all of us, all from the Jonas Brothers, to Miley (Cyrus) and Demi (Lovato), and then it was Zendaya. It was just so cool to see all the people you so ‘went to school with’ if you will. It’s good to see them all do their thing."

Despite her success, Gomez's family tried to ensure that she remained grounded. The actress said: “I just remember my mom being on my a** all the time about making sure that any sort of sudden exaggerated fan moment is meant to be treated with respect.” Selena Gomez reveals how ‘Wizards of Waverly Place’ changed her life | MorungExpress | morungexpress.com

Charlize Theron reveals what frustrates about Hollywood

Los Angeles, (IANS) Hollywood actress Charlize Theron has called out a double standard when it comes to action movies.

The Oscar-winning actress, who has been fronting action movies since 2005’s ‘Aeon Flux’, said studios often give female actors just one shot to have an action movie hit, reports ‘Variety’.

She told ‘The New York Times’, “Yeah, it’s harder. That’s known. Action films with female leads don’t get greenlit as much as the ones with male leads. I think the thing that always frustrates me is the fact that guys will get a free ride”.

As per ‘Variety’, she said that when it comes to men, however, they can have a box office flop but still land multiple follow-up projects.

“When women do this and the movie maybe doesn’t hit fully, they don’t necessarily get a chance again”, she continued. “With this, we were very aware that eyes were on us. It’s not a risk that studios want to take, but they’ll take it many times on the same guy who might have a string of action movies that did not do so well”.

Theron is currently headlining Netflix’s action sequel ‘The Old Guard 2’. It’s her latest action role after the likes of ‘Atomic Blonde’ and ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’, among others.

She told The Times her commitment to her action roles has left her body worn out. She said, “I run into people and they’re like, ‘Oh, what happened to your arm?’ And I’m like, ‘Oh, I just had surgery’. And they’re like, ‘The last time I saw you, you had surgery”.“I had an unfortunate injury on the first action attempt I ever did, for a bad movie called ‘Aeon Flux.’ On day nine, I did a back handspring, and I didn’t get enough height, and I landed on my neck on a concrete bridge. I had the last surgery on my neck 18 years ago. I’ve had surgery on both elbows, my right shoulder, my thumb, carpal tunnel, fractures. A lot of fractures”, she added.
