Actress Sonam Kapoor wants her fans to use regular thread while flying kites on Makar Sankranti instead of glass coated manja. Sonam, 27, who is a fan of kite flying, said, "I am all for celebrating the festival just feels we should use regular manja so that we don't hurt birds." The manja, which has a glass coating, is very effective during the kite flying but it is not good for birds that get slashed, wounded and killed when they become entangled in it. "We should fly kites with good old regular manja that has no glass coating. This would help minimize the damage that is caused to birds," she added. Source: Page3

Miss USA Olivia Culpo Wins Miss Universe 2012

The 2012 Miss Universe pageant night happened December 19 (December 20, MLA time) at the Planet Hollywood Resort and Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada and Olivia Culpo from USA was crowned Miss Universe. Leila Lopes of Angola crowned her successor at the end of the event. Olivia Culpo bested 88 gorgeous ladies from different countries and territories around the globe. year 2012 has been a very good year for the Philippines when it comes to pageants. Our bets in Miss World and Miss International placed in the semifinals. Elaine Kay Moll grabbed a 3rd runner-up finish in Miss Supranational. Jennifer Lawrence named world's most desirable woman

Actress Jennifer Lawrence has been named the most desirable woman by a men's online magazine poll. The "Hunger Games" star soars from her last year's forty- seven position to the top spot as the most desirable woman in the world by AskMen magazine, reported Ace Showbiz. "Overall, there's a sense that she's a little more authentic than other actors. She's fresh because we haven't seen her all over the gossip pages for the past three or four years," said editor-in-chief James Bassil explaining why the "Silver Linings Playbook" star becomes a favourite. She took the crown from last year's champ, Sofia Vergara, forcing the "Modern Family" beauty to slip down to No 12. Another star who makes a huge fall is Kim Kardashian.
