Katrina Kaif: Living the dream

In what once seemed a distant dream, Katrina Kaif gets emotional about getting to be a Yash Chopra heroine Since the time Katrina Kaif attended the premiere of Shah Rukh Khan-Preity Zinta-Rani Mukerji starrer Veer Zaara in 2004, her greatest aspiration was to work in a Yash Chopra film. However, it seemed like a far-fetched dream then as she was seen as an ‘outsider’ compounded by a language problem in Hindi. Dressed casually in a loosely-fitted tee and a pair of denims, Katrina looks at home in Yash Raj studios in Mumbai. I'm not an animal in the zoo: Preity

Actress Preity Zinta says she was greeted by "the shock of 40 camera flashes" when she arrived at the Chatrapati Shivaji International Airport and ended up twisting her ankle due to the paparazzi's attempt to photograph her. "Sitting at home with a twisted ankle post the airport assault by photographers. First, I shoot all night and get on the plane and then get pushed," tweeted Preity, who landed in Mumbai on Sunday from Prague. The actress came back to the city after shooting in Prague for her debut production ‘Ishkq In Paris’. Photographers are said to have been stationed at the airport as Hollywood star Ashton Kutcher was expected to be there. However, the cameramen spotted Preity in a super casual look, wearing loose lowers and a T-shirt, her hair undone, and no make-up. Media has flashed pictures of Preity hiding her face behind her hand, hair and staff, but Preity says she wasn't "hiding". "Pushed and jumped on at the airport. It was raining, so I slipped. Wasn't hiding my face, was trying to recover from the shock of 40 camera flashes. And yes, in the end I was pissed off so then I definitely didn't want to show my face," she posted. The 37-year-old, whose car was damaged by paparazzi outside international talk show queen Oprah Winfrey's party in January, is angry. "If photographers ask me politely I will oblige, but next time I will either attack someone or then file a police complaint because THIS IS NOT FAIR. I am a human being not some animal in the ZOO! If my security would have pushed them, then news would report my staff assaulted the media," added Preity. She is only thankful that the shooting for ‘Ishkq In Paris’ is over. "Otherwise I'd be hopping around with a twisted ankle," she wrote, adding that she cared to give her side of the story on a social networking platform as "Every story has two sides". Me and slapstick humor? Not sure: Chitrangda Singh

There is a certain image that one carries of Chitrangda Singh once her name pops up. After all, none of her three films so far, ‘Sorry Bhai', ‘Kal - Yesterday and Tomorrow’ and ‘Hazaron Khwahishen Aisi’, fell into a mainstream bracket. ‘Sorry Bhai’ came closest to being so but its release over the weekend of Mumbai terror attack proved disastrous for its box office fortunes. The film failed and now it would be a while before Chitrangda is seen on the big screen again. In PNC produced ‘Aur Devdas’, she yet again gets serious with her own take on 'Chandramukhi' while enacting the character of a socialite. "But it's not that I am stuck up on doing any particular kind of roles", protests Chitrangda when questioned if she would forever be doing cinema belonging to this genre. That seems to be the case though, considering her choice of films over a period of time. With the kind of glam quotient she comes with, doesn't she wish to expand her horizon? Doesn't she wish to chill out for a change and do a film where she can just let herself go free without any limitations of coming up with yet another 'intense/award worthy/deep rooted' performance? "You are making it all sound much more serious than it is", laughs Chitrangda, "I am not averse to being a part of commercial fun cinema. In fact, I love Priyadarshan's films. They come with great situational humor and are so funny. Give me a film coming from his stable and I will be glad to be a part of it." Talking of fun, hypothetically speaking if she has Rohit Shetty approaching her for ‘Golmaal 3’, would she be willing to be a part of it? After all the ‘Golmaal’ series too is a lot funny, has great commercial ingredients and promise assured box office returns! "'Golmaal? Errr, I will have to really give a movie belonging to such genre a lot of thought before I sign on the dotted line", says Chitrangda in an amused tone, "And that's because such movies belong to slapstick genre and I am not too sure how much of such humor would I would be able to carry off. However, a point to ponder indeed!" Meanwhile, she seems pretty excited when questioned on ‘Aur Devdas’. Apparently, her character is much deeper and darker than all the versions of 'Chandramukhi' that have been seen on celluloid till date? "Well, (director) Sudhir Mishra has his own interpretation of 'Chandramukhi' that gives the film an edge", Chitrangda reveals, "I play a very ambitious woman who doesn't think twice about using whatever possible means available to her for getting her way through. She knows that she is in a cutthroat world and has no hesitation in even using her sensuality to make a couple of deals go through." Source: Screen IndiaImage: https://upload.wikimedia.org/

Roots are important to Madhuri Dixit

Madhuri Dixit says the reason behind her shifting base from the US to Mumbai last year, was that her kids should know their roots. And so, taking out time from her busy schedule, the actor, along with husband cardiac surgeon Dr Sriram Nene and kids, visited the Taj Mahal recently, and her ancestral hometown Konkan before that. “Konkan is a beautiful area. My kids were fascinated to see buffaloes... It’s important that they know their roots as it’s a part of who we are,” she says. Shift focus to her husband, who of late has been seen at most public events with her, and Madhuri says: “We are a team and we support each other. When he was busy with his work back in the US, I made his life easy by taking care of everything else. He’s doing the same for me now.” And, Dr Nene seems to have adapted well to the constant limelight that his wife is in. As Madhuri gave the interview, he clicked pictures from his phone, and suggested changes in her pose as per the light falling on her. “We both know that our life is much more beyond this glamour and limelight, so we behave accordingly. We are professionals for each other. I entertain people and he saves lives,” she says. On Konkan: Konkan is a beautiful area. We went there to visit our roots. We wanted our kids to see how people work in a farm. On her hubby: We are a team and we support each other. When he was busy with work back in the US, I supported him. Source: Hindustan TimesImage: https://upload.wikimedia.org/
