Leonardo DiCaprio on being an actor: It’s a marathon, not a sprint

(photo: leonardo dicaprio/instagram) IANS

Los Angeles, (IANS) Academy Award-winning actor Leonardo DiCaprio says he has approached his career like a “marathon, not a sprint”.

Speaking to deadline.com, the 51-year-old actor, who has enjoyed success in movies such as Catch Me If You Can, The Departed and The Wolf of Wall Street said: "The thing that I could say more than anything is that if you love this profession, if you love being an actor, you have to realise that it’s a marathon, it’s not a sprint.“

“And that’s not to say, 'Oh, these are all pivotal choices. Don’t try something commercial. Don’t do this too early.' It’s about the idea of looking at your career 20, 30, 40, 50 years from now, and putting those building blocks together to last. And maybe overexposure could be damaging,” he added.

The star went on to share: "I think, if anything, I had somewhat of an instinct early on about overexposure. Granted, it was a different time. It was a time where I watched actors that kind of disappeared their personal life, and you didn’t know much about them. It’s much different now with social media. But I didn’t get to know much about them except what I saw on screen."

DiCaprio said that he was "very lucky, very early on" in his career. However, the actor appeared in "a lot of independent movies" before making his big breakthrough, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

He said: "I got to see them build a body of great work over time, I wasn’t inundated with a massive explosion of too many films by them in one or two years. That isn’t to say you shouldn’t take the work when it’s given to you, but it’s the idea of doling it out, or maybe just taking those films that have great supporting characters that are interesting and making your mark in the industry.”“I was very fortunate and very lucky, very early on. And like I said with Titanic, that was the real changing point, when I got to choose my own films. But until then, I did a lot of independent movies. I just went for the character that I thought was most interesting, and something that I could sink my teeth into.” Leonardo DiCaprio on being an actor: It’s a marathon, not a sprint | MorungExpress | morungexpress.com

Amitabh Bachchan talks about ‘recordist of life’, miracle of human body

IANS Photo
Mumbai, Amitabh Bachchan turned philosophical once again, offering a string of thoughts that read like a meditation on time, truth and the marvel of human existence.

The thespian took to his blog, where he spoke of “documentation” as the keeper of moments, the witness to place, time and happenings calling it the “greatest informer” of all.

“Documentation .. the recordist of time place and happening .. now the greatest informer..Do the do .. the undo will do… (sic)”

The octogenarian went on to reflect on the idea of belief, saying that trust rests in the hands of the one who informs, whether “formed or deformed.”

He wrote: “Believability be the ability to believe the informer - formed or deformed (sic).

What followed was a burst of raw admiration for the human body, which he described as “the greatest invention ever.”

“AAHHHHH .. the human body .. the greatest invention EVER .. they that can see inside and beyond it , be the ones blessed ..AND BELIEVED,” he wrote.

The icon is currently seen hosting the new season of Kaun Banega Crorepati. It is the official Hindi adaptation of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire? franchise.

The format follows contestants, who are asked multiple choice questions and must select the correct answer from four possible choices, and are provided with lifelines that may be used if they are uncertain.

Recently, National Award-winning actor Manoj Bajpayee shared how Big B once 'almost got him killed during a stunt' in the show, where the former appeared as a guest.

Sharing the 'funny' incident from over 26 years ago, Manoj revealed how he has had vertigo all his life and how Amitabh had then tricked him into pulling off a stunt that required him to face his fears of heights.

Manoj said, “Amitji once almost got me killed. I have vertigo, intense vertigo. The action director and the director of my then movie, everyone, came to me and asked me to jump from the waterfall that was about 150–200 feet high. They said that they would put a harness on me too. ”Talking about himself, Manoj said, “The man who can’t even stand 20 feet above the ground was being told to go up 150 feet! I refused completely. I said, “I’ll die. I’ll get a heart attack. When no one could convince me, they all went to Amitabh Bachchan to convince me.” Amitabh Bachchan talks about ‘recordist of life’, miracle of human body | MorungExpress | morungexpress.com

Mona Lisa on ‘Zindagi Ka U-Turn’: This project felt like a turning point in my career

(Photo: PR) IANS

Mumbai,  (IANS) Actress Mona Lisa, who is stepping into a bold new chapter with the short drama, ‘Zindagi Ka U-Turn’ has called the short micro-drama “a turning point” in her career.

Reflecting on her journey with ‘Zindagi Ka U-Turn’, Mona Lisa shared, “I had been wanting to do a vertical series, so when the call came, I instantly knew I wanted to take it up. I hadn’t explored this format before, and I think it’s the next big trend. Everyone has a mobile phone, and people love watching quick, engaging content while commuting or waiting somewhere.”

She added: Short micro-dramas are fascinating because they grab your attention immediately. I even enjoy watching them myself!”

In the upcoming Pocket TV’s show, Mona Lisa takes on the role of Sonam Verma, an ambitious wife at the peak of her career, a woman who owns every room she walks into.

The series follows the story of a middle-aged street vendor whose world shatters after his wife’s betrayal, until fate takes a shocking turn when he suddenly inherits an empire worth billions.

She added: “This project felt like a turning point in my career, not only because I got to perform a very different character, but also because the story itself was so gripping. The moment people start watching Zindagi Ka U-Turn, even for 30 or 60 seconds, they’ll find themselves hooked. It’s full of twists and turns.”

The actress said that everything just fell into place so positively that saying yes felt natural.

“Overall, my experience was amazing. After having done everything from films to television serials and reality shows, this felt like exploring a completely new genre. The five-day shoot was truly memorable for me; after all, the first experience always holds a special place.”

Speaking about her character and how it is different, Mona Lisa said: “In my career, I’ve always tried to take on varied characters. Then, when I moved to television, I entered a totally different space, even playing a supernatural role.”

But this one is something she has never done before.

“In this story, my character is arrogant and shares a tumultuous relationship with her husband. While playing this character, I actually felt, Oh my God, I’m nothing like this in real life! But that’s the beauty of being an actor, getting to live lives so unlike your own. I feel grateful to have had this opportunity.”

“My director and creative team guided me beautifully, explaining every detail of the story. Later, they even told me they hadn’t expected me to perform the role with such conviction, because it’s always a challenge to portray something that’s the complete opposite of your real self.”

“So yes, this was a challenge for me, and I’m thrilled I could take it on. I always look for new roles, and Pocket TV has given me exactly that. I’m super excited and super happy.”

Speaking about doing any preparations for this role, Mona Lisa shared that the main preparation was to bring out her arrogance and dominating nature, especially towards her husband.

“During the script reading, my director, Naveen ji, guided me in understanding the tone; he wanted it loud and assertive. I built that personality in my mind and practised embodying her attitude.”She further added that her co-actor Ruslaan Mumtaz, who plays her husband Raghav, is shown as a very simple man, “while I play this sophisticated, dominating woman. That contrast helped me immensely in performing the scenes. The script itself was so strong and engaging that it made my performance flow naturally.” Mona Lisa on ‘Zindagi Ka U-Turn’: This project felt like a turning point in my career | MorungExpress | morungexpress.com

Eva Longoria says she 'loves' her failures

(Photo: Eva Longoria/ Instagram)

Los Angeles, (IANS) Hollywood actress Eva Longoria is getting liberal with her failures. The actress shared that she loves her "failures".

The former Desperate Housewives star has recalled the "struggle" of her early days, where she struggled to make ends meet before making it big as an actress and insisted she doesn't regret going through hardship because it has made her more grateful for the life she has now, reports ‘Female First UK’.

She told The Sun newspaper, “I loved my struggle, I loved when I moved to Hollywood and had six dollars in my bank account. I love my failures, that’s where you grow and learn. I was in the rat race and I was in auditions, and I was in corporate America and I was in many jobs at one time, and I struggled to pay my rent and I had a student loan and I went through that, and I would never change my experience of hardship or touching every rung of the ladder. I like that because it makes me appreciate this position I am in more now”.

As per ‘Female First UK’, the 50-year-old actress, who was previously married to Tyler Christopher and Tony Parker and has seven-year-old son Santiago with husband Jose wouldn't change anything about her past.

She said, “I wouldn’t give my younger self advice. I wouldn’t say, ‘Don’t marry that guy’ or, ‘Watch that left turn’. I don’t want to correct my mistakes. I love the path I was on, holes and all. Eva grew up on a ranch in Texas and while her father was keen for them all to live off their land, her mother used to sneak a regular treat for her four daughters. She recalled, “I loved my childhood, I grew up on a ranch, with chickens, pigs and cows. My dad made us eat off the land, we could only eat what we grew. My mum would get paid once a month, she was a teacher, and on her pay day she would get Domino’s pizza and we would eat it and hide the pizza box in the neighbour’s trash so my dad wouldn’t know we ate out. That’s how I grew up. My dad was like, ‘The land will give us what we need’”. Eva Longoria says she 'loves' her failures | MorungExpress | morungexpress.com

Elizabeth Olsen won't do films if they don't get theatrical release

(Photo: Elizabeth Olsen/ Insta

Los Angeles, (IANS) Hollywood actress Elizabeth Olsen is putting her foot down. The actress has said that she is no longer signing on to Hollywood studio movies that don’t have a guaranteed theatrical release.

As an indie film darling since the start of her career with 2011’s 'Martha Marcy May Marlene', Olsen is comfortable acting in a movie without distribution that gets sold to a streamer, reports 'Variety'.

The actress has shared that her preference is always a theatrical release.

She told 'InStyle' magazine, “If a movie is made independently and only sells to a streamer, then fine. But I don’t want to make something where (streaming is) the end-all. I think it’s important for people to gather as a community, to see other humans, be together in a space".

"That’s why I like sports. I think it’s really powerful for people to come together for something that they’re excited about. We don’t even audition in person anymore", she added.

As per 'Variety', since her last outing as the Scarlet Witch in the Marvel Cinematic Universe courtesy of 2022’s 'Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness', Olsen has made only indie movies such as 2023’s 'His Three Daughters', 2024’s 'The Assessment' and the upcoming A24 romantic comedy 'Eternity'. Only 'His Three Daughters' was backed by a streamer (in this case Netflix), although it was given an awards-qualifying theatrical release in select theaters.

Olsen knows a thing or two about bringing millions of people together in movie theaters thanks to the MCU, where she’s played Scarlet Witch since debuting in the post-credits scene of 2014’s 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier'.

"Making the films are fun. Goofy. It’s ridiculous. We’re grown people like children on a playground”, Olsen said about the MCU. “We’re flying. We’re shooting things out of our hands. And it’s a character that I’ve gotten to return to so many times after over 10 years. It’s good to put her down and then I miss her and I want her back. I’d jump at the opportunity to be in her shoes again".

Olsen added about the pros of the MCU, “It’s the consistency of a community and a job, which is hard to find. The insane camera movement, stunt work and special effects, visual effects that are happening in real time"."It’s a lot of coordination, it’s hundreds and hundreds of people on set, and it’s a powerful thing to be a part of all those people working towards one goal. The people doing the visual effects are artiste. The soul, the spirit, the heart is fulfilled doing it. It does mean something. I care about the acting being great, everyone does", she added. Kate Winslet reveals reason why she hadn't directed before

IANS Photo

Los Angeles, (IANS): Academy Award-winning actress Kate Winslet, who is making her debut behind the camera, said she was "scared" to direct before making her debut behind the camera on the upcoming festive film “Goodbye June”.

The “Titanic” star told Empire magazine: "I just decided…. I'm gonna do this.' "I had thought to myself, 'How do I answer that question?' I think I've often said, 'I've been raising a family. I've got other things going on.' But actually, I realised that the reason I hadn't directed before now was because I was probably scared."

The actress, who also features in the cast of Goodbye June, said the additional scrutiny on female stars who make the move behind the camera as another factor behind her reluctance, reports femalefirst.co.uk.

"And I'm acutely aware of how much harder it is for actresses to turn into directors than it is for our male counterparts. I do believe there is a good deal more scrutiny placed on: 'Can they or can't they do it? What are they going to come up with?'," said the 50-year-old actress.

Talking about Goodbye June, the film follows a group of siblings who come together to spend time with their terminally ill mother June played by Dame Helen Mirren in her final weeks and Kate explained that she didn't want the titular character to be "cosy".

The actress said: "It was very important not to set her up as the perfect, cosy parent. When you're dealing with loss, sometimes vaguely uncomfortable, humorous things can happen. So it was important to be as real about that side of what's happening to June as possible."

Winslet said directing the film was demanding, particularly as Mirren was available for just 16 days during production.

She said: "I had no option but to just throw myself at it with as much energy as I could muster and just keep going. It was proper, fast-paced British filmmaking in that sense."

Winslet says that the experience on Goodbye June has left her open to the prospect of directing again. She said: "I'm not saying, 'Oh, it all came naturally to me', because I don't want anything to ever come naturally to me. That's not who I am. (But) I'm relishing every single day." Kate Winslet reveals reason why she hadn't directed before | MorungExpress | morungexpress.com

Demi Lovato says queer spaces feels ‘safe’ to her

(Photo : IANS/Demi Lovato/insta)

Los Angeles, (IANS) Singer Demi Lovato has revealed why she feels “safe” in queer spaces.

The 33-year-old pop star told PAPER magazine: “My connection with queer club culture is... I love going out with my friends. I love dancing, and I love doing that in queer spaces because it feels safe to me.”

She continued: “If I were to go to a straight club, it just doesn't feel as safe. I feel there's more danger. I feel like when I go to a queer space, I know that I'm with my friends. I'm know I’ll have a great time.”

Lovato, who identifies as pansexual and decided to readopt she/her pronouns because explaining they/them to people was "exhausting", added: “I just have always felt safer in queer spaces, and I think that's because queer people have a way of living so authentically that it makes me feel like I can live authentically."

(Photo: Ananya Panday/Instagram)

Mumbai, (IANS) Bollywood actress Ananya Panday has revealed that Italy had a huge impact on her style and that she came back wanting to experiment more, trust her instincts, and not shy away from bold silhouettes.

Asked what’s one travel destination that had a big impact on your style and why, Ananya told IANS: “I’d say Italy! Being in one of the world’s fashion capitals was incredibly inspiring - the energy, the style, the way people carried themselves with such ease and confidence. I came back wanting to experiment more, trust my instincts, and not shy away from bold silhouettes or unexpected pairings.”

Ananya said that the trip didn’t just refresh her wardrobe; it reshaped how she expresses herself.

“Even now, I revisit those memories when I need a creative spark - they’ve earned a permanent place on my mood board and in my mindset,” said Ananya.

Revealing her go-to style and beauty hacks when she’s on the move or traveling for shoots and holidays, Ananya said that she wants to be comfortable yet still be “put together.”

“When I’m traveling, whether it’s for work or a getaway, I want to feel comfortable but still put together,” said Ananya, who has hosted Airbnb’s Original experience.

“I always pack versatile basics that I can mix and match: a great pair of denims, oversized shirts, statement accessories, and a blazer that works for both day and night. On travel days, comfort is key, so you’ll find me in sweatpants and sneakers, especially while taking a long flight, settling into a cozy Airbnb or exploring a new city.”

Beauty wise, shared a secret.

“Beauty-wise, a dewy skin tint, mascara, and a lip and cheek tint go a long way. I also swear by a hydrating mist, a good SPF, and under-eye patches for early call times. Oh, and dry shampoo is a must. It’s a game changer,” she said.

Talking about her collaboration with Airbnb and hosting this first-of-its-kind fashion experience, Ananya said that fashion has always been a “powerful form of self-expression for me, whether it’s trying out new styles, putting together a look that feels bold, or simply wearing something that makes me feel confident.”

So, curating a fashion-focused experience felt like a natural extension of who she is, explained Ananya.“I’ve always enjoyed meeting new people and sharing stories, and this felt like a meaningful way to open up my world and connect with others. What made it even more special was the opportunity to host it through Airbnb. With Airbnb Experiences, it’s not just about visiting a place, it’s about truly engaging with it through the people who know it best.” Ananya on how Italy had a big impact on her style: Came back wanting to experiment more | MorungExpress | morungexpress.com

Saiee Manjrekar: My father has never been my shortcut

IANS (Photo: PR)

Mumbai, (IANS) Actress Saiee Manjrekar, who is the daughter of veteran actor, director, and writer Mahesh Manjrekar, said that her father has always been her inspiration, but never her shortcut.

Saiee shared, “My father has always been my biggest inspiration, but never my shortcut. I remember a very straightforward chat we had when I first spoke about acting, he told me, ‘If you want to be an actor, it has to be your decision. I will never put you in a room with any friend of mine or make a call on your behalf.’’

At first, Saiee agreed it felt “daunting.”

“But today, I see how important that lesson was. I learnt to face rejection, to audition with strangers, to stand in lines like everyone else, and to earn every opportunity on my own merit. It made me value every role so much more,” she said.

For Saiee, the real gift of growing up around Mahesh Manjrekar wasn’t just watching him on set, but observing the discipline, humility, and passion he carried into every project.

“On screen, my father taught me how to respect the craft. Off screen, he taught me how to respect myself, my co-workers, and the journey, even when it’s hard. He’s shown me that being an artist is not about arriving at a destination, it’s about constantly learning, evolving, and staying true to your voice,” she said.

The 23-year-old actress made her film debut with a brief appearance as Kushi Damle in the Marathi film Kaksparsh in 2012.

She did her first leading role as Khushi Chautala in the 2019 Hindi action-comedy Dabangg 3 opposite Salman Khan. In 2020, she appeared in the music video for the song "Manjha", alongside Aayush Sharma.

In 2022, she made her Telugu film debut alongside Varun Tej in Ghani, which ended up being a commercial failure. She was next featured in the Telugu-Hindi bilingual biographical action film Major, a biopic of Sandeep Unnikrishnan in which she played the role of Isha Agarwal who is Unnikrishnan's love interest. She next appeared in Kuch Khattaa Ho Jaay opposite Guru Randhawa. Saiee was last seen in the Telugu action drama Arjun Son Of Vyjayanthi directed by Pradeep Chilukuri. The film stars Nandamuri Kalyan Ram and Vijayashanti, alongside Saiee Manjrekar, Sohail Khan, Babloo Prithiveeraj, Srikanth and R.
