A new Hollywood movie, “Sands of Fortune”, will tell the story of Saudi Arabia’s oil discovery and the beginning of the nation’s state-owned energy company, Aramco, Anadolu Agency reports.

Initiated by Israeli producer and businessman, Uri Singer, the movie will tell the true story of US geologists, Max Steineke and Khamis Bin Rimthan, who together discovered the country’s first oil well in 1938, today known as Dammam No. 7, according to reports by regional news outlets.

Steineke was a renowned petroleum geologist in the US, having served as the head geologist of the California-Arabian Standard Oil Co. from 1936 to 1950, during which the company’s name was changed to Aramco.Saudi Aramco’s oil production hit 500,000 barrels per day (bpd) in 1949, and the company currently produces around 9 million bpd, making it one of the world’s largest oil producers.Hollywood movie to feature true story of Saudi oil giant

Kareena Kapoor promotes 'Heroine' on a cruise in Dubai

True to the glamorous spirit of their film Heroine, actress Kareena Kapoor, director Madhur Bhandarkar and producer Siddharth Roy Kapoor held a stylish and glitzy promotional programme on a cruise in Dubai. Kareena felt like a true 'heroine' as she alighted from a seaplane at the Jebel Resort here Monday evening for the cruise. "True to the role that I am playing in 'Heroine', this event in Dubai has let me relive the moment of playing the role of a star once again," Kareena Kapoor said in a statement. Madhur Bhandarkar, who was impressed with the innovative strategy, said: "Only my 'Heroine' Kareena could have carried this off with much aplomb like her role in the film." The team of "Heroine", which takes a behind-the-scenes life of a Bollywood actress, has been busy spreading a word about the film. Kareena's peppy number "Halkat jawaani" has already caught the fancy of many of her fans, and the team hopes to grab more eyeballs with unique promotion ideas. "We have planned the marketing of 'Heroine' very creatively and in sync with the glamour quotient of the film. Shreya Ghoshal to perform in Muscat, Dubai next month

Playback singer Shreya Ghoshal is set to take the stage in Dubai and Oman's capital, Muscat, next month. The Dubai leg of her tour, titled Salaam Dubai, will take place on October 26. It will be a three-hour concert packed with chart busters and will mark her return to Dubai after her hit show in November last year. The Muscat concert is titled 'Ooh La La' and will be held on October 18. At this show, Ghoshal is likely to croon Malayalam, Bengali, Tamil and Kannada songs apart from her hit Hindi numbers. This will be Ghoshal's first concert in Oman. In March this year, another leading female singer from Bollywood, Sunidhi Chauhan, performed at a largely attended concert in the Omani capital. Ghoshal shot to fame after the success of Sanjay Leela Bhansali's "Devdas" and Since then she has been recording songs with many music directors in different languages. She has been performing all over the world and has also judged child contestants in musical talent show 'Voice Of India - Chhote Ustad'. Ghoshal also wishes to take her musical talent beyond film music to Hindustani classical music. Source: Indian Express
