Men rarely get it right when they buy gifts for their other half, a survey has revealed. The survey revealed that millions of men upset their ladies by buying underwear of wrong size, wrong colour or too sexy. They also buy toiletries, which women are never going to use or perfume they don’t like the smell of, a media report said. Another mistake that men commit is opting for kitchen utensils, which is a "blatant insult" for their other half. And women can even take offence if they are gifted exercise DVDs, feeling they are being criticised for being fat. British men are particularly bad at flirting and most are unable to tell when a woman is being flirtatious, a new study has found. According to statistics gathered by social anthropologist Jean Smith, flirting is all too rare in Britain and when it does take place, it's likely to fail. Smith spent more than a decade looking at how men and women interact and recently completed a four-country comparison, the 'Daily Mail' reported. She found that flirting was rare in Britain and people just give up easily and went home; New Yorkers get right down to business; Parisians take refuge in ornate but time-proven ritual. She said that Britain's problems start with men. Protocol dictates that men should approach women. Men know this, yet they're horrified at the idea of rejection. "Perhaps I am intruding upon her and her friends," they think. "She might not welcome the interruption!" New York men can cope with rejection by laughing about it with their pals and move on, however, British men seem swallowed up in despair. British women agree that the man should approach first. But they are at fault too, as they give no clear signs of encouragement to the few men who dare, she claimed. Smith said that what British women counted as obvious eye contact is, to men, no more than a blink. When the British women were asked how they let a man know they are interested, they said "I look at them; I don't need to do anything physical. The fact I'm listening makes them feel important," or "I do obvious body language, like pointing my knee in his direction while we chat." Smith said that only 35 per cent of British men could tell if a woman was flirting with them. "It's best when women do something deliberate," one man said. British women are slightly better placed than men as 57 per cent think they are good at spotting flirtation. Yet, it is the smallest percentage in the poll. In Paris, 53 per cent of men and 95 per cent of women think they know what's happening. Actor Vivek Oberoi will be seen in filmmaker Ekta Kapoor's upcoming film, a dark intense love story. "I have signed it actually (with Balaji Telefilms). I don't think they have made an official announcement about it. All I can say is the film is a dark, intense and interesting love story. I can't talk much about it as it is too early," Vivek said. Vivek's recent release 'Kismat Luv Paisa Dilli' with Mallika Sherawat did not do well at the box office. However, the 36-year-old actor has a host of films in pipeline including 'Krrish 3' with Hrithik Roshan, 'Zilla Ghaziabad' alongside Sanjay Dutt, 'Sher' again with Dutt and 'Grand Masti', a sequel to the 2004 film 'Masti'. "I have nine films or so in hand. 'Jayanta Bhai Ki Love Story' is about a goon falling in love, 'Sher' is set in the 60s and is based in Gujarat. It is about gold smuggling. 'Zilla Ghaziabad' is out-an-out action film. In 'Krrish 3' I am playing a super villain," Vivek said. "I am doing one film with Balaji and another with Tips company. I feel I am doing good work. I am very much happy," he said. Vivek feels this is the happiest phase of his life professionally as well as personally. "I surely feel it is the happiest phase of my life. I have never been so mentally sorted and happy. I have my wife to thank for that. The day I got married I felt there is so much more to life," Vivek said. "Now that I am going to become a father, the excitement is at its highest. I want to take her out for a romantic holiday while she is expecting," he said. Vivek had earlier turned co-producer for 'Dekh Indian Circus' that had Nawazuddin Siddiqui and Tannishtha Chatterjee in the lead roles. James Bond legend Roger Moore has revealed how his former wives Doorn van Steyn and Dorothy Squires both subjected him to a string of battering during their turbulent marriages. The 84-year-old actor said that he was punched, scratched, hit with a teapot, whacked over the head with a guitar and had a brick hurled through his window, among other things, the Mirror reported. Moore claimed that first wife van Steyn, who he married when he was just 19, also punched his doctor, as he dithered over treating her husband for a slashed hand. “It made a change because normally she punched me,” the Mirror quoted him as telling Piers Morgan in an interview for his TV series, ‘Life Stories.’ When the stunned host asked if she really hit him, Moore replied saying, “Yes, she would scratch me. She threw a pot of tea at me. I’d been sunbathing in the garden, I came up and I’d taken off my pants and I gave her some smart Alec answer and this teapot came hurtling at me. I said, ‘Right, that’s it, I’m leaving’. “She storms off out of the room and I hear the bath running. I thought, ‘What a cow, I’m leaving her and she’s having a bath’. “So I smashed the bathroom door open and she had all my clothes in the bath and said, ‘Now leave me’. I waited for them to dry. The marriage was doomed,” he said. Moore said how he left van Steyn, who died in 2010, in 1953 but had to make up a fling with a friend’s wife in order to get a divorce. I remember, to avoid confrontation, I used to strum the guitar and one day I was sitting on the edge of the table strumming and she was ranting on about something and I wasn’t taking any notice. “Next thing I know, it was like slow motion, I could feel the guitar coming out of my hands and I could see it up above my head and… bash, it came down. She ruined the guitar. She had a great temper,” he said. The marriage ended when Moore cheated with actress Luisa Mattioli, who would become his third wife. “Dorothy was not happy to find out I was having an affair,” he said. “She threw a brick through my window, she reached through the glass and grabbed my shirt and she cut her arms doing it. “The police came and they said, ‘Madam, you’re bleeding’. Actor Tusshar Kapoor, 35, says he may be a bit old, but when it comes to marriage there are older ‘tigers’ in the industry waiting to get hitched. “There are older people than me in the industry who have not got married yet. Actor Riteish Deshmukh, who has a string of hit comedy movies under his belt, is now planning to get serious with a thriller and a black comedy. "My next two films are comedies but yes, after that I will be doing a couple of serious films. I have decided on two films - one is a thriller and the other is a black comedy," the 33-year-old told at an event here. Some of Riteish's hit comedies include "Masti", "Kya Kool Hai Hum", "Malamaal Weekly", "Heyy Babyy", "Dhamaal" and "Housefull." Asked if he is bored of the comedy genre, Riteish told, "I am not bored of comedies, I have done four comedy films. When did I say that I am bored of comedies?"
