Mumbai, (IANS) Ektaa R Kapoor, has heaped praise on Bollywood star Kareena Kapoor Khan for what she brings to the table with an experience of over 2 decades.

Ekta attended the trailer launch of her upcoming home production, ‘The Buckingham Murders’ along with Kareena and Hansal Mehta at a multiplex in the Juhu area of Mumbai on Tuesday.

At the event, Ekta shared that the film has already recovered its cost including the P&A owing to the stardom of Kareena. Ekta also refused to call ‘The Buckingham Murders’ a more serious or a middle-of-the-road cinema and said that the film is as main commercial potboiler as it could get.

Ekta told the media, “Kareena brings style and youthfulness. She is a big star and a great actress. I trust her craft.”

She then spoke about her earlier association with Kareena, ‘Crew’. The film also starred Kriti Sanon and Tabu in leading roles.

Ekta said, “The only condition of making 'Crew' for me was Kareena's casting. I told Rhea (Rhea Kapoor) that for this role I want Kareena baaki tum sab dekh lo (I want Kareena for this role, rest of the casting is your call).”

In ‘Crew’, Kareena essayed the role of the senior flight attendant, Jasmine Kohli, who hatches the plan of a heist with her colleagues.

‘The Buckingham Murders’ is helmed by Hansal Mehta, who is known for ‘Aligarh’, ‘Shahid’ and ‘Scam 1992: The Harshad Mehta Story’. The film also stars Ranveer Brar, Ash Tandon, Ranveer Brar, and Keith Allen.

Presented by Balaji Telefilms, produced by Shobha Kapoor, Ektaa R Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Mahana Films and TBM Films, the film is set to bow in theatres on September 13, 2024.Meanwhile, Kareena also has ‘Singham Again’ in the pipeline which marks her return to the ‘Singham’ franchise. Marriage thoughts make me weak: Soha Ali Khan

As talks of her brother Saif Ali Khan's impending wedding continue to hog the limelight, Soha Ali Khan, who is in a steady relationship with Kunal Khemu, says she is scared of marriage. The 33-year-old actress says the thought of marriage makes her weak. "I am not a responsible person. I am a child. I don't really feel like a grown up and marriage is meant for mature people. The thought of marriage makes me weak. I think that 30 is the new 20. So, I am not tying the knot anytime soon," Soha said. Saif's wedding with Kareena Kapoor was initially said to be set for October this year but then the actor said that the date is not finalised yet. Soha, who was previously seen on TV as the host of 'Godrej Khelo Jeeto Jiyo', is all set to make her small screen comeback with makeover show 'What Not to Wear-India' alongside fashion designer Aki Narula. "Actors are apprehensive about TV. But I did not have any second thoughts regarding this show. It is a great international format. There was huge need for a show like this in India. I am not a style expert but I decided to take up this show as I wanted to share my experiences with people," she said. Asked if she is fashion conscious, Soha said, "I studied in London, so I was high street fashion conscious. For me it was more about fitting in rather than standing out. "Being in the limelight has made me more fashion forward because I am under constant scrutiny. So, I have no choice but to be fashion conscious but otherwise I am not so much into it," she added. Soha also said that even directors are taking interest in making sure that the style quotient is not compromised in films. "I am happy that films now have a more professional setup. There are sketches of what the actors are going to wear in a particular scene to see if it works with the setting. That makes things easier," she said. The actress, who was last seen on the big screen in "Soundtrack", is currently filming Tigmanshu Dhulia's sequel to 2011 film "Saheb Biwi aur Gangster". "In 'Saheb Biwi aur Gangster 2' I play a character which is innocent but has grey shades. She pretends to be a victim but in reality she is not. My character is not as aggressive as Mahi's (Gill) character in the first part but has a mysterious air around her," she said. When Kareena Kapoor says that acting is in her genes, the actress, who represents the fourth generation of her family, is absolutely right as the Kapoor family enjoys about an 85-year long association with arclight, greasepaint and camera. It was Kareena's great-grandfather Prithviraj Kapoor who laid down the foundation of acting in the family by entering showbiz in 1928, which was taken forward by his three sons - Raj Kapoor, Shammi Kapoor and Shashi Kapoor whose wife Jennifer was the first female from the clan to act in movies. Later, all three sons of Raj Kapoor - Randhir, Rishi and Rajeev faced the camera. In the fourth generation, it was Randhir and actress Babita's daughter Karisma who carried forward the legacy of her family. Later, Kareena followed in her sister's footsteps. Talking about her association with filmdom, Kareena told IANS: "Being a Kapoor, acting is genetic. My sister paved the way for me in the industry when she became the first Kapoor girl to take up acting. "Reminiscing of filmdom as a child, Kareena said she would accompany Karisma, who entered filmdom in 1991 with Prem Qaidi, to the sets and has grown up with the industry. "As a child, I used to accompany Lolo (Karisma) to the sets of her films, so I've seen the industry grow and vice versa. Saif, Kareena to have a December wedding in Maldives

Step Up Revolution' actress finds Kareena graceful

‘Step Up Revolution’ actress Kathryn McCormick grooved to the tunes of Bollywood song "Marjaani" featuring Kareena Kapoor in preparation for her stint in an international dance reality show, and says she found the Indian actress very graceful. Though she couldn't understand the lyrics, McCormick admits she enjoyed dancing on the song that was a part of 2009 Hindi film "Billu". "I danced on a Bollywood number in 'So You Think You Can Dance 6' (in 2009) and it was amazing. I loved to dance on that, although I could understand nothing in it. My choreographer Nakul Dev Mahajan for the Bollywood dance, told me a lot about the Indian dance forms and Bollywood," McCormick said in an email interaction. "I got the opportunity of watching a few Bollywood songs during 'So You Think You Can Dance' and I saw the video of the song of the Indian actress Kareena Kapoor. She was so graceful," she added. Though McCormick didn't get the winner's trophy, her stint gave a push to her movie career. After the show, she landed a small role in 2009 film "Fame" and she is now set to be seen in the lead role in dance-based film "Step Up Revolution". Directed by Scott Speer, it is the fourth instalment of "Step Up" franchise, and will release July 27. She says it is a "special" project. "It is my first movie as a lead. Both 'Fame' and 'Step Up Revolution' are based on dance, but the difference is the 'Fame' was based on the students of the New York Academy of Performing Arts and 'Step Up' is about flash mob. Both the lives are very different," she said. The actress admits it was fun working on the film, and guarantees it will bring something fresh to the viewers. "The film is incredible. There is romance, there is high energy dancing, it has a little bit of sauce, a romantic contemporary number. Kareena's got a great sense of humour: Kajol

The phrase "a rare talent" describes Kajol to a tee. In her case, it shows: there's a zest and verve to her work that not only suits her, but clearly suits her fans as well. It's a rare talent who finds herself at the zenith of her popularity at the age when Indian actresses have either vanquished in the oblivion or have stopped getting the main lead offers. Given the traditional paucity of fine roles for more mature women, this is proof positive that Kajol's talent can often turn manure into gold-dust. She may not have earned the tag of 'The highest paid actress' today but everyone recognises that a Kajol movie will be worth its weight in gold and worth an investment. Everyone knows this about Kajol: that the mantle of the most acclaimed film actress of our time could not be worn with such grace and humility. But everyone already knows that. What people don't know is her kindness, her collaborative nature and her great humour. It is however, these unknown things which Kajol brings to her matchless performance. So much so that you forget being her co-actor and stand in one tight corner observing the magic she's been spreading on the celluloid since 1992. Here is a take from the woman who can fittingly be described as 'seamless'. Siddharth wasn't the only one who gave us suggestions: Well that is not true. Altogether, there were other members in the crew as well; I was not the only one. If you are dealing with children in your real life, to an extent it helps you play a parent. You get the hang of the body language; you know how moms react, so your job gets slightly easy. Well, inputs can come from anyone and you needn't really have a family to visualize something. So yes, we did have our fair share of brainstorming as any other film. Ajay and I never talk work at home No, we don't inherently talk shop at home. We leave our work back on the sets. Arjun was a good reel life husband: He was very accommodating. Arjun is a very nice person and a thorough gentleman. He was a good husband on the sets (laughs). He is a parent in real life too but I didn't get a chance to sit down with him and discuss about parenting. I didn't think it was needed to help the film. We both were natural in the film just like off it, as we both know what goes in the making to be a parent. I haven't got Elvis Presley out of his grave, have I? Of course I have danced, and not just on 'Jailhouse Rock' but on quite a few numbers too. I'm a huge Elvis fan, grew up on rock n roll. I loved that retro era and listen to it a lot even today in my car. Kareena's got a great sense of humour:  Lethal or not I can't say. We have not killed each other (laughs); in fact we could have in this film as per the script's demand. On a serious note, now she is a delight to work with, we had awesome fun and she has a sense of humour which helps when you work long hours. I don't understand why people compare me with other actresses: Kareena is undoubtedly a talented girl and very hardworking too. In fact she has come a long way from K3G. Kareena has matured as a person and a professional. I think it would be unfair to draw comparisons as it was a different era, the scripts she and I have been offered are all very different so I don't see a fulcrum to hinge the comparison on. The little girl reminded me of Nysa a lot: The kids were fabulous, brimming with energy and very smart. They were all well behaved and an absolute fun. The girl who plays my youngest child in the film reminded me of Nysa in a strange way. I wish Karan had merchandised We Are Family tissue rolls: I hope realms and rolls of it (laughs). In fact Karan should have merchandised it. Imagine We Are Family branded tissue rolls? We Are Family will transcend beyond Stepmom: It is very different. After all it is an Indian product, largely for the Indian diaspora. The premise of the film is Stepmom but it is smartly Indianized with Indian values and at the same time it is very contemporary. I quite believe that We Are Family will transcend beyond stepmom and carve its own identity. I don't know how much of Karan's inputs were there in scripting the film: I really would not know that as I got a readymade bound script to read. Honestly, I really don't know what went into weaving it. I'm sure Siddharth will be able to give you better inputs on this one. Karan was obviously involved in the capacity of a producer but he has a strong team in place now so he did not even need to frequent the sets. I play a mother, and that is the only common thread in MNIK and WAF: Well, I can't even remotely compare both the films and my characters. They are absolutely different story lines, different situations and individuals; of course the only common thread is that the woman in My Name Is Khan had a kid and in We Are Family has kids. I am open to new scripts and new directors:  I have always been open to new talent, but of course I need the right script in hand and somewhere down the line, there has to be one function in the unit which would be experienced to pad up the newcomer or else it is difficult to get the right product. A certain amount of strength is required in the form of experience for good work, which should reflect somewhere in the project. I have worked with so many new directors in my career. So the fact remains that I am open. But the script should sweep me off my feet and of course it should come to me at the right time. Source: Indian Express

Bollywood film lovers will soon be lucky enough to witness hot romance between Ranveer Singh and Kareena Kapoor. Sanjay Leela Bhansali will be wielding the mega phone after a long gap of two years. His earlier movie Guzaarish was released in 2010. Sanjay confirmed that he will be casting Ranvir and Kareena in his project which is based on Shakespeare's 'Romeo and Juliet'. Buzz is the movie is tentatively titled 'Ram Leela'. Sanjay was delighted that his dream of working with Kareena is turning a reality after a wait of 13 long years. He tells. “We have wanted to work together for a while and I am immensely excited. We met for the first time around the release of Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam (1999). She was working on her debut Refugee (2000) then, so we’ve been constantly thinking about talking to each other. I’m happy that this has finally worked out now”. Speaking about his hero Ranveer Singh he said he was very much impressed with Ranveer's performance in his debut film 'Band Baja Barat'. For Ranveer Singh, this should be the ultimate break in his career, since it’s undoubtedly the biggest film that he has signed till date. He was last seen in the Yash Raj film ‘Ladies v/s Ricky Behl’. Many hope that this is the biggest break in his career and even Bhansali assures that the film will be mass Masala entertainer. Kareena to play Begum Samru?

Mumbai: Actress Kareena Kapoor is likely to play the role of Begum Samru in Tigmanshu Dhulia's period film. Tigmanshu, who is basking in the glory of recent hits like 'Paan Singh Tomar' and 'Saheb Biwi Aur Gangster', had first approached Rani Mukherjee for this film, sources said. The period flick is based on the life of Begum Samru, who started her career as a nautch girl in 18th Century India, and eventually became the ruler of Sardhana, a principality near Meerut. Later on she played a key role in the political power struggle in 18th and 19th century India. According to sources, Kareena had liked Tigmanshu's both the latest movies - 'Paan Singh Tomar' and 'Saheb, Biwi Aur Gangster' and she wants to work with the director. "It is too early to talk about the details of the film, but Kareena is definitely excited for this film," official spokesperson from the director's side said in a statement. Begum Samru was the head of a professionally-trained mercenary army, inherited from her European mercenary husband, Walter Reinhardt Sombre. This mercenary army consisted of Europeans and Indians. She is also regarded as the only Catholic ruler in India, as she ruled the principality of Sardhana in 18th and 19th century India. My guruji’s name is Nidhi Narag, she is my guruji in Ambala. I had learnt for almost six years. I have done BA (hons) in music,” Parineeti Chopra told reporters, on Thursday. “I don’t want to sing right now. I have just started acting. I think after five to six years, when I will feel I have got grip on acting and I don’t need to practice anymore, I will sing,” added the actress. The actress was asked if she was seeing anyone and is in love, for which she replied that she has had more than 300 crore crushes but was never in love. However, she likes Saif Ali Khan. “No I was not in love, but I have had 300 crore crushes. I like Saif Ali Khan but please don’t tell him. Whenever I meet Kareena Kapoor, I will tell her that you have competition,” Parineeti Chopra said. “Ishaqzaade” will hit theaters on May 11, this year.
